Before any elephant allows a person on its back, it has to be tamed. This 'breaking of the will' is a terrible torture many juvenile elephants go through. Especially in countries that have a big tourist industry, like in South East Asia.
The less demand there is for elephant rides, the less elephants will be tortured for it. So, we got people to promiss never to ride an elephant again, and turned their pledges into a lifesize free 3D-printed elephant that became a symbol for the cause.

The campaign got all the big travel agencies of the country to stop offering elephant rides, preventing approximately 29.000 rides per year. A big help for a small country, but on a global scale off course not enough to stop these practices all together.  Check out World Animal Protection to see what else you can do.
